The S. W. Betz Company was founded in 1933 by Samuel Betz, making it one of the oldest material handling companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. Over the years, Samuel and the rest of the Betz team worked to solve their customers’ material handling and weighing problems while becoming leaders in the field in terms of knowledge and expertise. Samuel and his team created a culture of representing quality products at competitive prices with superior service. Samuel wanted to show his fellow Baltimore community members how much his company cared about providing them with the best service and most effective solutions to their problems.
The company experienced profitability and success for many years as it passed through different generations of the Betz family. In 2010, Linda Hurka, along with her husband Randy Farnum, purchased the S. W. Betz Company from the Betz family. Linda and
Randy were both adamant about keeping with the original motto of selling quality products at competitive prices with superior customer service – while truly caring about their customers.
Randy and Linda have worked tirelessly over the last four years to make modern improvements to the company while still staying true to Samuel Betz’s original vision. While celebrating their 80th anniversary in 2013, S. W. Betz was named one of the Fastest Growing Woman-Owned Businesses by Baltimore Business Journal. S. W. Betz was the only materials handling and warehousing equipment company to receive this honor.
As we move into our 81st year and beyond, we would like to thank all of our customers, suppliers and employees for their help in getting us to where we are today!
